Truck Operations Roof Close Call - VIDEO

Older video that I needed to repost highlights firefighters going to work on the roof of a two story wood frame. Firefighters get trapped on roof when the second floor erupts into flames. Ladder position over the window gets the brothers in trouble.

ok as a firefighter I can personally tell you many things were done wrong by these firefighters on the roof.
1) NEVER TAKE YOUR HELMET OFF!
2)The firemen should not be walking around especially without chekcing the roofs stability with a pike pole or other tool.
3)There was no roof lader set up on the roof.
This is a very poor video and makes firefighters look like idiots. These firemen should go back to the basics in Firefighter I..

Only water puts out a fire.
Why were they even on the roof when they did not have their water set up and the fire was self-venting. More Balls than Brains.

Was there a safety officer or the IC in position to see the whole picture? Heavy fire already venting from C side top floor, pressurized smoke, those windows that are intact are smoke stained (possibly cracked, but unable to tell from video). This is a ventilation controlled fire, flashes, and cuts off their only ladder.
Remember, two ladders for every roof LEVEL you are operating on, their second ladder was on a different level so unusable. Also watch and read your smoke and supervise crews on the roof. Nearly a full minute after flash before any action taken to get crew down!
